Without Backlink you can not get traffic.Backlink is most important role in Seo Technique.

backlinks are very difficult to get. I just began to build mine alone and it is a lot of work. So far I have discovered that there are many directories, websites to post links and favorite bookmarks, and also forums like this one. Those are probably not the best backlinks but some to get started. There is a HUGE difference of having 4 backlinks or 100.

The best are to get on reputable websites like AOL etc, but again very difficult. I would like to hire someone to do my backlinking if possible.

I think social networking and guest posting are the most reliable source of building quality back links. I agree forum posting and blog commenting are also there but they don't produce effective results.

there are different ways of getting back links. you can use directories, social bookmarking , forums, article postings , blogs and other such techniques to get back links to your site. but definitely make sure that they are not reciprocal or two way links. They might cause trouble.
