Start from the basics. Learn about networking and networking devices. You must know that how many kinds of network cables are there in market and what are there uses! I started learning last year , i bought the 2 books and the cisco simulator but after the 3 month of studding i got bored and quit. Shame on me. Don not quit is the most important.
You should study on you own and take the test, if not pay like 300$ 400$ and go to classes.
