Yes you can make sub domains on a single domain its beneficial for you.Keep it in mind that when you make sub domains then do not use same content.you will need to create different content for each sub domains other wise there is no issue to create multiple domains on one domain.

Yes, they are right. Sub Domains is the way to go.. EXAMPLE :Looks something like this, maps.google.com ... Do you see maps. in the domain before google.com? That my friend is a sub domain.
