The latest update targets many things including over optimization and aggressive webspam, so make sure to do an audit of your links if you haven�t already.

basically it affects on 3 things

1) Ratio of Exact Match Anchor Text in Poor Quality Articles
2) Ratio of Bad Links coming from autoapprove, non-moderated blogs
3) Ratio of No real On-site Activity by any visitors compared to inbound links

And those who follow these manipulative tactics, consciously or unconsciously, will also be affected. If your website is affected, then hear Google say you are building links the unfavorable way.

It targets mainly low quality keywords so you need to build links using high quality sites.

Make sure you don't use links from link farm sites, sites which are connected to banned sites - etc!

One of my sites: livecasino.co.uk got dropped from #2 to #10 for doing that, it might work in the short run - but definitely not in the long run!

The primary purpose of these updates to destroy the spammers on the web. Penguin updates are targeted low quality and duplicate content sites to improve the search quality. The latest penguin update targets the "exact match domain" websites.
