If you share your profile to other community members then Profile linking can be useful for increasing traffic.

i think Profile link are not increase traffic your website.

Profile link is also the way to build the backlink but its not really effective. However, i am sure that link won't increase the traffic.

In my opinion , profile linking is not a good way after panda and penguin updates. Google is giving importance to the relevant contents back links and the profile links are irrelevant so give importance to the quality not to quantity.

Profile linking, for me is not that effective and efficient compared to article syndication.

Forum Profile are only helpful If you're an active member on forum.
