Yea, social signals do affect keyword ranking. Search engines like Google and Yahoo do take Facebook,Twitter and Google+ activity while according rankings. So while a good social media reputation helps you improve your SERP rankings; it also helps you pull targeted traffic and build a good community base.

I think it didn't help on keyword ranking because it is not provided dofollow backlinks but it provides a huge amount of traffic on your website. It is a great place for good traffic on promoting your business product or services on the internet.

I don't think so,
You have to use social bookmarking for this purpose.
