How to rank higher in google from UK?

Hi there, I run a website for a charity based in the UK with a .org.uk domain name. The charity is primarily involved in conservation work in Asia. We have some good rankings in google.co.uk but are well down the list on google.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to get higher on google in this situation?

Thanks a lot.

With a country specific TLD, you are clearly telling SEs that you want to rank high in UK. But what I understand from your question is that you want to target Asian audience. For that,
- Set your preferred geographic location (Asia) in Google webmaster tools
- Add your website to local directories
- Get listed on Google places, bing local search and Yahoo! local
- Get listed on local classified websites
- Get backlinks from local websites
- Get active on niche related communities which are popular in your country
- Get citations for your listings
- Use geographically targeted keywords in your website content.

With a ccTLD, if you wish to rank high for both local as well as global searches, I fear thats going to be a hard one.
