What is link anchor text?
 

Hi folks,
I've recently began reading a couple of webmaster forums and I keep seeing people refer to "link anchor text".
Can you tell me what it is so I won't feel like I'm in the dark?
Any help would be appreciated.

The anchor text is the visible and clickable text in a hyperlink.

Anchor text usually gives the user relevant descriptive or contextual information about the content of the link's destination
