As per as officially(google) adwords don't help in SEO, Adwords is a marketing tools working on PPC(Pay Per Click) model that helps you to generate leads from targeted keywords and location.

Adwords is the principle source of income for Google Inc. if all company using Adwords come with good seo rank or showing on first page, then why will they expend their money in Adwords.

PPC campaign remains for only for specific time period and it does not affect the organic SEO ranking. Because, organic SEO practices will remains for longer time in SERP.
