Hello all,
n Google Analytics, there is a three level hierarchy of data. Users ---> Session --> Interactions Users are the unique users (Based on cookie information), Hits are when they initiate a session (i.e., go on to a website). Interaction is all the clicks/ scrolls, video play/pause/stop, downloads etc, that a user does in a session. So, User initiates a session, where he interacts with the Website. Visit in Google Analytics can be understood as the start of a session. i.e, the 1st pageview of every session is a Visit (which is equal to number of sessions, this is the reason visits are replaced by Sessions in Google analytics). Visit is a Session level metric. Click is the click of the mouse on the website, which is an interaction metric. So, a button can be clicked, link can be clicked, video can be clicked etc. Hope this clarifies your doubt. Visits means no of sessions by users can visit the website in a particular time. |
There is an important distinction between clicks (such as in your AdWords reports) and sessions (such as in your Audience reports). When one person clicks on one advertisement multiple times in the same session, AdWords records multiple clicks while Analytics recognizes the separate pageviews as one session.
