Please tell me what is XML sitemap.

Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLS for a site.

XML sitemap is a coded sitemap used to generate and submit in webmaster tool to increase the crawling of your webpages. The sitemap helps search engine robots to index webpages faster in search engines.

XML sitemap is a file where you can list the web pages of your site to tell Google and other search engines about the organization of your site content. Search engine web crawlers like Googlebot read this file to more intelligently crawl your site

Xml stands for Extensible Markup Language and Sitemap will be in that form . Sitemap shows the direction to of your website to google bots. It's just like a Map of your Website .

Would just like to add that to create a sitemap you can use a plugin if you are using a content management system, otherwise use a sitemap generator and upload the sitemap via ftp to the root directory of your website and then as others have mentioned submit the exact url to the popular search engines.
Whilst writing this post I checked and realized that you have one installed but I would recommend you use a popular SEO plugin which has this feature integrated into it as it is more user friendly because you can see the site structure in a more compact structured Index view. HTH
