Google Hummingbird is a search algorithm used by Google. Google started using Hummingbird about August 30, 2013, and announced the change on September 26[4] on the eve of the company's 15th anniversary.

Hummingbird is about synonyms but also about context. Google always had synonyms, but with Hummingbird it is also able to judge context - thereby judging the intent of a person carrying out a search, to determine what they are trying to find out.

“Hummingbird” is the name of the new search platform that Google is using as of September 2013, the name comes from being “precise and fast” and is designed to better focus on the meaning behind the words

Named after the bird’s ability to be precise and fast, Hummingbird is a new algorithm – I’ve also heard it called a “platform” by Eric Enge – that helps Google better sort through its multi-billion page index to retrieve the most relevant information faster. It’s an upgrade to the search algorithm itself and is much bigger than past updates that addressed smaller aspects of search.

basically google Hummingbird is a search algorithm used by Google.

Hummingbird is giving careful consideration to every word in an inquiry, confirming that the entire question — the entire sentence or discussion or importance — is considered, as opposed to specific words. The objective is that pages coordinating the significance improve, as opposed to pages coordinating only a couple words.

Google Hummingbird

Google Hummingbird is a search algorithm used by Google.

Search engine optimization changed little with the addition of Hummingbird, though more top ranking results are ones that provide natural content that reads conversationally.
