No domain age is not important. There is a little weight for new site. after 3 or 4 month ranking is depend upon the site visitor.

Let us say, you've been selling hosting on a 10 yr old domain, it would have some weight..

Age of domain = n no. of yrs.
Age of content on the said domain = n no. of yrs.

This will certainly have +ve impact on Google Algos.

Domain age may play a part in the ongoing equation, just a small piece of the puzzle. If your building backlinks to your website, you are not going to see the results you are looking for.
