Any article, Blog or post, which is completely similar with other used content is called as Duplicate content. Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content which is, match with other content or are appreciably similar.

Sorry but this is such a stupid question to ask seriously. Any way Duplicate content is nothing but using the same content of one article as it is for another article. It is advisable not to use such content as it is one of the Black Hat technique and your website may get penalized for using such content.

Duplicate Content is a bad factor in SEO. When you create any post or blog with title and description and same title and description you use for other post or blog.. That's call duplicate content. even you post again same content on your website.

When you post content by copying from other website or when you regenerate your own content many time with many different url's and titles then it is called duplicate content. usually content with similar meaning and different words cannot be tracked and hence are not called as duplicate as per now, But they are ethically duplicate and any human quality checker( many of them are google employees) may still detect it.

Webmasters are often confused about penalties for duplicate content, which is a natural part of the web landscape, at a time when Google claims there is NO duplicate content penalty. The reality in 2015 is that if Google classifies your duplicate content as THIN content then you DO have a very serious problem that violates Google’s website performance recommendations and this ‘violation’ will need ‘cleaned’ up.

duplicate content is a spam contents penalty by google

Most people throw this phrase around to describe any piece of writing (and sometimes other content) which appears on multiple web pages, but there's far more to it than that. In the eyes of Google and other search engines, duplicates are actually pieces of content which appear on more than one page within the same website. In some cases, this might even mean that several pages on a given site have nearly identical words, pictures, videos, and source code.
If you're like most marketers, you might be wondering why anyone would bother doing this with their website. The answer is Search Engine Rankings. Some people believe they can boost their sites' rankings for certain terms by indexing multiple copies of relevant pages. This may have actually worked at some point in the early days of SEO, but Google is constantly changing its algorithms to weed out the junk €" especially duplicate content. In fact, the recent Panda updates may even penalize entire websites that contain duplicate pages.
