Merging two websites, have questions!

Hey everyone,

I'm new here, and could really use some assistance/opinions on something I'm looking to do. I have two websites, TechRaptor (Tech/Gaming) and NerdyRaptor (Tabletop/Comics/Nerdy) and I'd like to merge them into one site. I have a few questions.

1) How will this affect my SEO? Could it be positive?

2) Redirects will be in place, but could this affect my search traffic?

3) Does anyone have any experiences that they can share?

4) Is this a good idea? Or should I hold off and keep them separate?

Thanks for your responses, I'm really looking to see what others think on top of any help I can get!

Edit: I would be moving the content from TechRaptor to NerdyRaptor and implementing redirects for TechRaptor -> NerdyRaptor articles.

Won't be able to help you with the questions but it might be easier for someone else to do it, if you specify whether you're creating a completely new site with content from both of them, or just moving the content from one to another?
