Do social share count as a kind of back link?

Or are they just good for juice? Been wondering this for a while. I know they're not technically back links but just want to know what value they bring to the SEO of a page.

social share does not increase the backlinks but it increase the number of visitors on the site which is helpful to improve site ranking.
