Why do you link exchange? and Is link exchange beneficial Seo point of view? Please answer me

when you exchange links through comments and through anchor text then it is okay but exchanging links through HTML code buttons also known as reciprocal link method is not recommended by Google.

instead of exchanging links, its better to earn links,

- write articles
- write blogs
- write on forums

all to earn you some links. Google weights these sort of links havier than a simple link exchange, its too easy!
