If you have lots of backlinks and you can't see keyword ranking, your backlinks would be low quality or your website is young. Use social signals, Facebook and Google+

Number 1; Optimise your site.

Simple and short way to increase ranking is just use quality and unique content and quality submission. Especially don't go for quantity.

There are several reasons for not getting good results in Google...
1. Your niche is very competitive
2. Your keywords are very competitive
3. Your optimization strategy lacks something
4. Backlinks that you have doesn’t make any worth to you

You’ll need a play with the keywords (try targeting keywords that have good monthly searches).

Whenever I am optimizing my site or my blog, I make sure I have the best keywords. I use Keyword Country to find the most popular and geographically active keywords in my niche.

Stay consistent with white hat SEO. If you are not on a budget, you might also like jumping into PPC. It gives instant results.
