Do Sites Need Fresh Content for SEO?

A lot of clients often ask me if they NEED a blog or fresh content added to their site on a regular basis to keep their rankings. The truth is you don't need to add new content to hold your rankings. Many sites stay static for years and hold onto their rankings with few changes ever being made.

You do need some relevant content and so I would always suggest having a minimum of about 6-12 good content pages on various topics or pages answering questions related to your niche. When adding content you should always try and add content that would be useful and informative for your readers.

Avoid adding content just because it targets keywords or because you think you need to add it. That being said, it is good to have a blog and fresh content because the more content you have, the more traffic you can potentially get.

Publishing quality articles in your niche can also help you establish yourself as a very knowledgeable industry leader, which can result in more business overall. Blogs and content are also a great way to take advantage of social media marketing with sites such as Twitter and Facebook. Votes on these sites are becoming signals to search engines of quality.

So simply put, having fresh quality content can be a great benefit and is highly recommend, but it is not necessary to achieve or to hold onto rankings for your main keyword phrases that you have optimized your home page and other core pages for.

In my opinion we have no need to upload fresh content on our site regularly. We should put unique and informative content one time. And the we should do off page optimization and in our off page techniques we should use fresh and unique content always. That will increase our website traffic or ranking on SERP.

danielryan309 07-23-2013 10:11 PM

You do want a number of applicable content and so I would at all times recommend having a least of about 6-12 decent content pages on a number of topics or pages retorting questions connected to your niche.

basicblogtalk 07-24-2013 01:54 AM

Totally, agree Petter. The fresh content is the way to get traffic from social media and gain the benefits of content marketing. Also, it tells the search engine that your website is fresh and please index faster.

With this indexing fast, you will gain more traffic from the organic search..!

thomasjon814 10-15-2013 11:01 PM

You must be in need of a number of applicable content. It is advisable to have at least 6-12 numbers of decent pages on any particular topic.

Kiarafernandes 10-15-2013 11:24 PM

Content is king in SEO but content should be fresh and unique. In Google head of SEO webspam Mr. Matt Cutt always talks about Fresh content is first priority for us even it ignore the designs.

ICTBoost 10-16-2013 12:10 AM

When a website provides fresh content at regular times, this site will be crawled more often. It means that search engines will index your pages more often, so new webcontent will be available sooner (in the search engines)

But I don't think it search engines take count for that when they position your site in the search results.

williamdavid334 10-25-2013 08:51 PM

It is always advisable to have at least 6-12 Number of decent pages on a variety of topics. The same should be as per the questions associated along with the niche.

samuelguy8 10-27-2013 03:09 AM

Fresh content helps to keep the current rankings. When I leave a blog on top positions and stop uploading fresh content for a few weeks, it drops in the search results. When I update it with a couple of new articles, it goes up in the rankings again. However this depends on the niche as well

pooja_thakur 10-27-2013 10:14 PM

Yes, every time you try to add content to your site, it should be different from the previous ones otherwise competition to attract visitors can be fierce. On the other hand, the content should be relevant.

fresh content is good but not really important for Seo

mikebrookhero 10-28-2013 03:02 AM

I think it's important, you can't just abandon the website and expect that it will stay on top positions forever. The new google algo won't let this happen

In my opinion every site should keep on uploading fresh content so that the crawler visits your site more often.

fatpauly 10-28-2013 03:32 PM

I see basic one page websites doing well in organic results. How do you think they get away with this?

harrylorayne 02-09-2014 11:44 PM

If you wish several applicable contents for you, it would be wise on your part to get near 6-12 decent content pages on several topics or pages answering related questions to your niche.

seovikrama2z 02-10-2014 12:47 AM

I also think there is no need to upload new content in website you can do via off page work for promoting the website.

deepitseo 02-10-2014 04:45 AM

Content is king in seo...

martintaylor06 11-27-2015 04:44 AM

New content is SEO will continuously place your content before search engines and will distract the attention of the readers. It will ensure the viewers that you are ready with customer support and answers of customer queries every time they ask.

jobtardisport 11-27-2015 09:44 AM

Yeah ofcourse fresh content speaks 100% true factors and boost rankings to the site too....

mrpianoman 01-27-2016 04:11 AM

I task myself with making itty bitty tweaks to each and every piece of content on my site at least once a month. I guess the search engines see it as fresh content?

If not, I'm still good as I add at least 5-10 articles every month (that I write myself for the sake of quality). I'm reaping the benefits of my efforts.

ragulaussie 01-27-2016 04:38 AM
