if you are looking for immediate results,PPC might be the way to go.but more people are likely to trust items in organic search ranking over ads which is when the long term benefit of seo comes into play.i like the suggestion of testing with PPC then focusing on seo for the long run.

Both are different where you have to paid for PPC on advertising instead of SEO, seo is totaly free but it take time, effort and lots of quality work, even PPC will take you there by spending $$$ (as per the compensation) i would like to suggest you if you are going through the PPC so please analyse the market then go through it, if you decide to go through the SEO so analyse the competition, choose best keywords and start the SEO process.

SEO and PPC both are good, its all about how we use them, If we want instant results then we should consider PPC, however on the other hand SEO should be done for the site simultaneously.

I think the answer to this question depends on where you are coming from.
