My point of view both are important in Search Engine optimization backlink purpose. I am got Quality Backlinks from blogger and wordpress

Both have pros and cons
 

Blogger can be customized to any extent. WP asks for money. But templates of WP are best.

Both are good. Blogspot and wordpress both will index quickly and search engine friendly also.

I am also think wordpress is best for blogging. because it's more seo friendly so it's better than from blogspot. I am using it so i recommind it.

As my experience, I use blogspot before this. Blogspot can be customize for SEO but you must do it manually, i mean tweaking the template code. It can be a powerfull tools but there are no support forum as we got with wordpress user. There are also programmer who design plugins for wordpress that can help built your wordpress blog to the way we want it.

Maybe I'm a bit biased because I use Wordpress, but WP is better in my opinion, because it not only let you create blogs. WP is very versatile, you can also create website with WP an not only blogs.

Well i will suggest you to use WordPress due to their lots of support to the users. It has lots of themes as well as plugins and it has easy to use interface. Blogger also has it now. But wordpress is still the best. I made my own themes on wp with the help of templatetoaster. Just great experience. thanks WordPress.

Blogger can be customized as per requirement but can't be considered on a long run. WordPress can be a good solution but again if you are looking forward for proper benefits, getting your own domain name and creating a blog using wordpress as a CMS can be a good idea.

On SEO Point of view wordpress is good but you cannot use googls adsense on it but in blogger possible without any cost. Both are good and have its on pros & cons
