Referral traffic is usually traffic that come to your website from a link located on another website. I usually see a lot of spam traffic in my "referral" traffic. If I were to put a link to your site from my site that should show up as referral traffic.

Traffic comes from third party's websites. By doing OFF page method and link building strategies, we can improve our referral traffic.

Referral traffic is Google's method of reporting visits that came to your site from sources outside of its search engine. When someone clicks on a hyperlink to go to a new page on a different website, Analytics tracks the click as a referral visit to the second site.
