Google+ because of its support for lean notification streams and diverse community engagements as enabled by circles, pages and communities. This is somewhat illustrated at my Google+ profile and interest pages.
Also the intuitive user interface is much appreciated of course.
Pinterest is great because of its visual focus in shaping persistent entry points to digital collections. (Collaborative) pinboards are therefore also part of my engagement approach with a heterogeneous audience. Pinterest is popular also among librarians.
As a former academic, I also appreciate Citeulike (its groups for bibliographic references) and scribd (its collections of documents).
Positioning Facebook and LinkedIn.
When using a three level (civic participation) skills framework with user levels: junior & followers (90 % of population), professional (9%) and leader (1%),
Facebook features cater to juniors (ref. the games)
LinkedIn features cater (also, primarily) to professionals
Google+ features cater (also) to leaders
Twitter caters to all three levels, as journals and other media do, except that now everyone can join the conversation.
