Forums and blogs also play the important role in SEO. In my own I prefer forums than blogs cause blogs often are nofollow links, forums have updated content daily with lots of comments from users so links seem to be natural and be indexed more often

I think the person above got it wrong. Blogs are more important than forums. Blog have alot more content around them then you just responding to random blogs with your anchor text in your post or your signature.
