I have seen different answers to make backlinks, these are perfect, but I recommended All of you, Social Bookmarking, Directory Submission, Guest Posting, Forums Submission and Blog Commenting With LUV Sites.

It also depends on page rank of the blog you are linking to

Agree ! May I tell more backlink kind. It's like profile backlink and Web 2.0 Backlink ( Blog or Posting ). And don't forget find website which you make backlink HAVE TO high PR ( page rank ), Hige traffic and have domain .gov or .edu is very high quality backlink.

you shouldn't comment in blog, even it's not a spam, but It may not appear on the blog, and then you can't get any backlinks from there :)

You can have backlinks from the process of blog commenting but most of the time you will have no-follow backlinks.

Comment on do follow blogs and make sure these blogs are relevant to your own blogs

I don't like comment on blog.

Blog commenting is nice if its related to your website, its one way to reach out the audience and introduce your website or your product.

It is just like you are commenting on a friend's status update on facebook but has a way more sense, and adds up to what the blog is discussing. Plus, forget about just leaving a link on it, if that's your aim then forget about blog commenting.
