I am a SEO Expert since last 1 years and as i know about seo is :
1. Growth of seo is very slow.
2. No much money in this field.
3. Seo become compulsory as the e-commerece field evolve and everyone come online.
4. More work , less results visibility.
5. Doing your own buisness with seo beneficial than doing a job in it.

Without SEO website will not be able to get better rank.
