5-10 a day of quality backlinks. Do not buy links say on fiverr unless you want to get flagged. Then you would be in a world of trouble..

Some good things said here. Think Quality over Quantity definitely.

Start with the best highest PR sites/blogs and forums etc in the SAME niche as yours. Comment on same sorta blogs, build friendships and links with a bunch of relevant sites in your niche and keep adding posts about the particular thing the site is about but do it slowly overtime. Let the big G find the site by itself just through regular posting and keeping the spiders coming back. Try to get some Social Signals on your posts when you drop them like tweets, fb shares, likes, google+'s etc.

Also, try to snap up your keywords for all the web 2.0 sites before your competitors do and fill em with content in your niche and point to your site with them that packs-a-punch. :)

Depends if Google view the links you are paying for as poor quality or spam. I think it's risky now to trust other people to build your links unless they have some kind of quality guarantee and are held liable if you find that Google crushes your site in the future.
