PHP or ASP

I know that there is probably no definitive answer, but
does it matter in search engine optimization whether you use PHP or ASP for your CMS.

Look forward to hearing your ideas.

I dont think it matters as long as you dont have urls with variables.
e.g. page.php?x=56y=78
My opinion is to always use friendly urls.

I agree with chorro, but for some reason have seen google index asp pages a lot faster then PHP pages...

Look at this asp vs php for more information...

It is ok to have variables within the URL as long as there are not a lot and the URL length remains fairly short.

One big no-no is passing a session id via the URL.

PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web development and can be embedded into HTML. It generally runs on a web server, taking PHP code as its input and creating web pages as output. It can be deployed on most web servers and on almost every operating system and platform free of charge

Php

PHP is a computer scripting language. Originally designed for producing dynamic web pages, it has evolved to include a command line interface capability and can be used in standalone graphical applications.[2]

While PHP was originally created by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1995, the main implementation of PHP is now produced by The PHP Group and serves as the de facto standard for PHP as there is no formal specification.[3] Released under the PHP License, the Free Software Foundation considers it to be free software.[4

In my opinion there shouldn’t be any difference.

Google or other search engines don't consider about the language you are using at your end.

The only concern is how the page is represented in front of them.

If you take care of dynamic URLs, with the help of mod_rewrite under Apache you can convert them into static URLs, then there is no issue at all.

For SEO purposes, the actual platform does not matter.

Something to consider in the php vs asp is cost. PHP is free and open source allowing a major collection of developers to keep it clean and exploit free. ASP is a Microsoft technology, and as we all know, very little from MS is free or exploit free!

PHP uses Linux servers while ASP requires MS servers... Linux servers are less expensive!
